Youth coaching

Coaching for young people

Typically aged 12+ years, minimum age is 8 years.

Young people today are under more pressure than ever. School stress, anxiety, friendship worries, social media, low confidence, and performance fears can all start to feel overwhelming.

Youth coaching offers a supportive space for young people to talk, think, and develop tools that help them handle these challenges in a healthier way.

It can help with things like:

  • anxiety and overwhelm

  • school fear or avoidance

  • low confidence and self-belief

  • worries about sports or performance

  • unhelpful fears and limiting beliefs

  • moving on from difficult past experiences

Coaching at a young age can be incredibly powerful. It helps young people build strategies and self-awareness early, so they can carry those skills with them throughout life. Rather than staying stuck in fear or self-doubt, they can learn how to feel more confident, capable, and in control.

Why work with me?

I’ve worked with young people for many years, from nursery age through to high school, as both a dance teacher and teaching assistant. I have a Master’s in Teaching, and I’ve always loved supporting young people with their creativity, imagination, confidence, and growth.

What I love about youth coaching is the energy and potential young people have. With the right support, they can develop tools and ways of thinking that help shape a happier, healthier future.

Who youth coaching is for

Youth coaching is generally most effective for young people aged 12 and up, though I have coached children as young as 8.

It may be especially helpful for young people who are:

  • feeling anxious or overwhelmed

  • struggling with school or avoiding school

  • lacking confidence

  • dealing with fears around performance, including sport

  • finding it hard to move past difficult experiences

  • wanting to understand themselves better and feel more in control

How it works

Youth coaching provides a safe, confidential space where young people can speak openly without worrying that everything they say will be passed on. Parents receive an overview of progress, and anything concerning would always be shared appropriately.

This balance helps young people feel safe enough to be honest, while also making sure parents remain supported and informed.

Support for parents too

Parents want the best for their children, but parenting can bring up our own stress, triggers, and past experiences. Alongside youth coaching, I also offer coaching for parents who want support to better understand their own reactions, let go of unhelpful patterns, and parent in a calmer, more intentional way.

A gentle, empowering approach

The aim of youth coaching is not to “fix” a young person, but to help them understand themselves, build resilience, and develop the confidence to move forward in a way that feels right for them.

Next steps:

  • Book a time to chat, you can share the challenges your child is facing and we’ll discuss whether youth coaching might be helpful for them

  • If we both feel coaching would be beneficial we’ll organise a discovery call - a time for me to meet with the young person, providing a chance for them to get to know me, ask questions and ensure they are comfortable working with me. It also gives me the opportunity to start to understand the challenges from their perspective.

  • I’ll put together a proposal for coaching - typically this will include a minimum of 6 sessions initially, with potentially more long term coaching, depending on individual circumstances. Occasionally one off / ad-hoc sessions are appropriate for more minor & specific challenges.

  • I’ll send over a parental coaching agreement for you to sign ahead of the first session.
